Directions

Driving  You can reach The Tides, via I-95 North.   Follow I-95 to the Maine Turnpike. Take Exit 6A to I-295 to Portland.  On the other side of Portland, continue on I-95 to Bangor.   Take Exit 45A to I-395 for 5 miles to US Rt. 1A to Ellsworth, where Rt. 1A is joined by State Rt. 3, which you take into Bar Harbor. Approximately 2 miles past the Acadia National Park entrance, turn left on to West Street (just after the large "SPEED LIMIT 25" sign), and go about 2 blocks to the large yellow house on the left. For a more scenic (and a longer) drive, take US Rt. 1 from Boston to Ellsworth, then Rt. 3, and follow the foregoing directions. Or, take I-95 to Augusta and pick up Rt. 3 there to Ellsworth.

Flying  If you fly into Bangor, take I-95 South to I-395 and follow the directions above. From Bar Harbor/Hancock County municipal airport, turn left on to State Rt. 3 at the airport exit, and proceed about 12 miles to Bar Harbor. Rental cars are available at the airport.
